Starting on Friday morning, Jaish al-Fateh began a massive offensive on government-held parts of western Aleppo. At least 4 suicide bombers were observed as hundreds of Islamist militants quickly poured into the battle.

Initially, a fighter of Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (Al-Qaeda affiliate) drove a VBIED towards the Duwwar Al-Mawt checkpoint and blew up the suicide truck among a gathering of Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers.

Shortly after, two more suicide bombings took place at the highly contested 1070 apartment complex and 3000 apartment project while heavy shelling of the Dahiyat Al-Assad district allowed Islamist rebels to overrun the SAA’s positions and take full control of the neighbourhood.

A fourth suicide bombing also occurred around noon in the midst of heavy skirmishes in the Dahiyat Al-Assad district. Meanwhile, the 2nd bomber of the 1070 apartment complex was identified as Hozaifa Alturki of the Turkistan Islamic Party.

Brand new footage of the advance shows tanks and hundreds of Islamist fighters storming the district, causing the SAA to withdraw further eastwards.

Remarkably, the SAA recently showcased its seemingly impregnable defensive positions in the Al-Assad district to Russian news crews as seen in the footage here.

The massive Jaish al-Fateh offensive was foretold by Al-Masdar News just four days ago and hopes to break the siege of rebel-held east Aleppo.

In a new speech, the leader of Jaish al-Fateh, Abdullah al-Muhaysini, vowed to defeat the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and rain hundreds of rockets onto Aleppo city.

Maybe a good old massive carpet bombing of the 1070 complex would do the trick : this area showed itself hard to defend and even harder to retake…

Yep, Russians should bomb them constantly.

You can’t win a war from the air only. The rebels know the ground and are extremely determine to defend their positions, the SAA won’t be able to break their lines in the 1070 project.

If you level the 1070 complex with a good ole carpet bombing, they’ll just be taken under the rumbles. You may not win a war from the air only… Mhhhh, yes and no. Personally, I promote a new kind of air support strategy using propeller aircrafts in serious numbers. One of my prefered concepts would be a kind of YOV-10D : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6iI9NfNTpk made a bit more powerful with 6 underwing hard points instead of 2 in order to carry more rocket pods (now there are kits to make the dumb rocket smart!) and having let’s say 2 Nexter 30M791 in… Read more »

Ok. It’s all good and well if there isn’t any. But if there is they need to start being careful if they bomb, or not bomb at all for now.

If ATGMs are unable to stop heavily armoured VBIEDs , try roaming drones over the frontline , firing guided missiles at the VBIEDs with the help of coordinate targeting

good placed RPG stops them easily. good placed RPG stops armoured carriers, even battle tack, if shooting from few meters.
Two gunners should be always ready at every check point. In Donbas they do it so: sideways or from top always RPG-7 ready to fire.
However it is easy to say so from my notebook. Probably it is more difficult at the check point

This is Pentagon’s Plan B. The next 3 months , up to the inauguration of the next American President , will be a free for all, it is the time between , that Americans use to launch all sorts of violations of lawful conduct.

ANNA News is not Russian news agency. They serve Israeli interests. Just notice how often they were at places where such events like today happened later. They are spies and since should be treated accordingly

The defense of SAA in west Aleppo is weak, and the FSA took advantage of it. The Jaish Fateh now have full control over 1070 projects area also. The rebels are much more determined then the SAA and its foreign mercenaries (Russian, Iranian ,Lebanese, Iraqi and Afghan) because they want to break the siege of eastern Allepo, and the will succeed in doing so.
