Damascus, Syrian (3:50 P.M.) – Not long after the Islamist rebels of Liwaa Shuhada Al-Islam surrendered Darayya to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the militants in the nearby town of Mo’adhimiyah requested a similar deal from the Syrian government.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Islamist rebels are requesting to be transported from the Mo’adhimiyah to an opposition area that is currently not under siege.

Mo’adhimiyah Al-Sham is currently under a ceasefire agreement that allows the Islamist rebels to control the town in exchange for peace with the government forces.

However, with the recent surrender of Darayya, the remaining Islamist rebels in Mo’adhimiyah will be completely isolated, leaving them with no choice but to give up the town.

I question these deals, terrorists just want to escape a no win situation and go elsewhere and fight? If they surrender they should be captured

This is not correct. Part of the deal is that fighters are allowed only to take a personal weapon. No vehicles, no rockets. If you were paying attention you would have noticed the evacuation was being done by bus.

It simply helps to lessen the number of pockets to besiege and help re-allocate SAA or NDF forces where they are much useful…

Good, this place was always a liability, now Damascus is really getting freed up! Use all of these free troops from these two towns to hack away at East Ghouta, leaving only Douma and the towns south of it. Isolate them and whittle away at their supplies, force them to beg for this same deal. Such numbers, however outnumbered by SAA (told you all the government had way bigger numbers), are maximised by the chaotic nature of urban warfare, whereas out in the open, say, in Aleppo or Latakia, these militants are open season for airstrikes. Whittle away at East… Read more »

Can some one explain why the civilians of Darayya are leaving? I understand the fighters leaving but not the civilians. My understanding is the civilians have amnesty.

Probably family members of rebel fighters .

Since the start of the war, population started to migrate based on their alignment in that conflict. Pro-government people moved from mostly pro-rebel territories to mostly pro-government territories and vice versa. In the Damascus happened the same process, but on a smaller scale. So at the end we see, that anti-government population concentrated in East Ghouta, Douma, Irbin, Darayya, Babbila, but pro-goverment population remained in the rest of Damascus districts and suburbs. It’s even more obvious in Aleppo, where different allegiances of the population have split city in half. Now when Darayya is taken by government forces, population doesn’t see other… Read more »

most of those are jihadi family members, their supporters and sympathizers, also some are fighters themselves disguising as civilians. absolute majority left darayya over the course of years anyway, there was 4 years of non-stop fighting anyway, nothings left outta that place no reason to stay there whatsoever

What civilian? Don’t you notice these are very strange urban areas? No women! Sometimes a few kid, most likely those who have been kidnapped here and there being used as human shields and for propaganda purposes…

As far as the amnesty issue goes, all of the 900 insurgents in Darayya were offered the amnesty, 200 chose to take it. 700 chose to be transported to Idlib. As far as the civilians leaving. My understanding is that the 4100 approx civilians (pre- war the population was 80,000 according to wikipedia) are largely family of the insurgents and at their request they are being transported to an insurgent held area as they do not want to live in an area under the control of the Syrian government it seems. The other thing is that if you look at… Read more »

Well, considering the situation depicted above, you’re the only whining dog in this whole affair. Assad or not assad, Baath or not Baath, you islamist dogs will never get to control secular Syria. Rest assured, you have failed in many places already and will continue to crumble as the time move forward without you. It’s still full season for thermobaric missile rain. Enjoy.

Free Syrian Army is nothing else than an al-Qaeda asset. US DoS are fools not to understand this. USAF should bomb FSA!
Islamofascists and Nazislamists deserve the same fate as nazis, fascists and the scum Charles the Hammer cleansed… Unfortunately, indians were too much in yoga and didn’t reacted the good way when mudjahideen came so jihad in India killed about 300 millions humans! Jihad is nothing else than the worst crime against humanity and lasting for near 1400 years!
