BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:30 A.M.) – The Islamist rebels are preparing to launch another big offensive in the eastern part of Damascus, as the peace conference gets under way in the resort city of Sochi.

According to a military source in Damascus, the Islamist rebels of Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham have increased the size of their forces around the strategic vehicle management base in the Harasta suburb.

While a large rebel assault was launched on Sunday, the military source said that attack was nothing more than the Islamists testing the Syrian Army’s defenses.

Since both Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham and Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham refuse any ceasefire in east Damascus, the Syrian Army has been forced to deploy several units to this front in anticipation of another big Islamist assault.
