Another chapter is in the books at the strategic city of Sheikh Miskeen in the Dara’a Governorate’s northern countryside after the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) once again failed to capture the Battalion 82 Housing Facility inside the central district on Wednesday morning.
The Islamist rebels began their assault by storming the southern walls of the Battalion 82 Housin Facility that is located at the southern gates of the HQ building; this attack did not end in their favor, as they were forced to retreat after sustaining several casualties during their first charge on Wednesday.
Determined to rectify the losses from their first assault, the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army struck the southern gates of the Housing Facility in Sheikh Miskeen, where they would spend the remainder of the day fighting the Syrian Arab Army’s 5th Armored Division near the Battalion 82 Headquarters.
As nightfall descended over Sheikh Miskeen, the Islamist rebels once again found themselves retreating from the central district to safer quarters near the city’s southern sector.
Wednesday was supposed to be the day the Islamist rebels push the Syrian Arab Army out of the city because the latter lacked the necessary air support due to the volatile weather conditions around the country.
Currently, the Syrian Armed Forces are in position to launch a counter-assault against the Islamist rebels; however, whether or not they choose to do it will be up to the Central Command of the Syrian Arab Army.
