BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:40 A.M.) – The Turkish-backed rebels attempted to ambush a group of Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers near the town of Morek on Tuesday morning, a military communique claimed.
Led by Jaysh Al-Izza, the Turkish-backed rebels attempted to sneak towards the Syrian Arab Army’s positions from the town of Morek this morning; however, they were ultimately spotted by local scouts before they could reach the military’s posts.
According to the military communique, the Syrian Arab Army was able to kill several of the would-be attackers, forcing them to retreat towards Morek after suffering heavy losses within their ranks.
Following this attempted infiltration attempt, the Syrian Arab Army responded with a heavy attack on the Jaysh Al-Izza stronghold of Al-Latamnah.
The Syrian Arab Army reportedly launched a barrage of surface-to-surface missiles and artillery shells towards Al-Latamneh, hitting a number of Jaysh Al-Izza targets.
