The Islamist rebels of Ajnad Al-Sham launched a new offensive inside the strategic town of Darayya on Sunday night after losing a substantial amount of territory to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) over the last five weeks.

According to social media activists in support of the Syrian opposition, Ajnad Al-Sham attempted to reopen the road between Darayya and Mu’adhimiyah.

Ajnad Al-Sham reportedly captured 9 points from the Syrian Arab Army between Darayya and Mu’adhimiyah after a violent battle on Monday morning.

Following the capture of these 9 points, the Syrian Armed Forces launched a counter-attack to recover their lost territory inside of Darayya, resulting in another violent confrontation with Ajnad Al-Sham.

The Syrian Armed Forces were able to recover these 9 points, leaving several Ajnad Al-Sham militants dead, including 2 of the aforementioned Islamist group’s military commanders.
