Two militants were killed on the spot and five more injured as a van belonging to the Islamist group Tahrir al-Sham exploded in what can only be described as a freak accident.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon in the town of Al-Teh south of Idlib city. According to one report, the van blew up due to human error after ammunition was mishandled and later self-ignited.
Several other military vehicles were also damaged by the blast.
Tahrir al-Sham was formed on January 28 after five jihadist factions, including Jabhat al-Nusra, merged into one single faction. The newly established group is loosely tied to Al-Qaeda.
