A passenger bus in the village of Al-Shoula (Deir ez-Zor Countryside) was targeted by the Islamic State; who, fired a rocket at the vehicle, killing all 15 civilians inside. According to a civilian source, the bus was stopped at a roundabout, when an Islamic State militant fired a rocket from approximately 200 meters away. The victims were predominately women and children that were heading in the direction of their homes from a local grammar school. Another 4 civilians were wounded by material debris from the blast – they are in stable condition.
The Islamic State fired 3 mortar shells into the Jubeileh District of Deir ez-Zor today, killing 1 civilian and wounding 6 others. Civilians are caught in the middle of fierce clashes between the Islamic State and the Syrian Arab Army in Deir ez-Zor. Firefights have been prevelant near the Deir ez-Zor Airport, where the Syrian Arab Army is currently under siege.
