Over the weekend, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) kidnapped as many as 400 civilians from the Al-Baghayliyah District in northwestern Deir Ezzor after seizing several neighborhoods along the Euphrates River.

On Wednesday morning, several social media activists from the aforementioned terrorist group have announced their intention to release 270 kidnapped civilians from northwestern Deir Ezzor.

The terrorist group did not specify the reason for kidnapping the civilians or why they are releasing them now.

Originally, ISIS social media activists attempted to save face by stating that they were “transporting” the captives to safety after massacring over 250 civilians on Saturday morning.

As of now, no civilians have been released by the terrorist group.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.

Is this in response to the earlier Yarmouk Camp transfer? Is this a trick, a lie, a trap?

Either way, if they do release them that is good news
