BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:00 P.M.) – For the third night in a row, the Islamic State (ISIS) launched an assault on the Syrian Arab Army’s positions inside the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
However, this time around, the Islamic State’s target was not Al-Mayadeen, but rather, the border-city of Albukamal, which was previously a terrorist stronghold.
The Islamic State’s infiltration attempt into eastern Albukamal would ultimately fail after a short battle with the Syrian Army and National Defense Forces (NDF) last night.
According to a military report, the Islamic State militants eventually gave-up on their infiltration attempt into eastern Albukamal after suffering several casualties near the Syrian Army’s lines.
With the recent arrival of reinforcements from all over Syria, the Syrian Arab Army and their allies are preparing to eliminate the Islamic State’s presence from the eastern part of the country once and for all.
