The People’s Protection Units (YPG) attacked a large Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) contingent located west of Ras Al-‘Ayn at the village of Al-Mabrouka, killing scores of militants as they progressed towards Tal Khanzeer (Pig Hill). Despite claims by ISIS media sources that the YPG is losing ground in Ras Al-‘Ayn, a Kurdish military source has confirmed that this is false and he further added that the YPG is in full control of the city.
In Kobane, the YPG continued their push in the southwestern perimeter of the city, cutting off ISIS militants from their entrenched fighters in the east. Also in the city, the YPG was able to destroy an ISIS hideout on 48th Street that was used primarily as a snipers den. Among the dead ISIS fighters on 48th Street was the ISIS field commander in Kobane “Abu Yamaan Al-Shaami” (ID pending).
