BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:45 A.M.) – The Italian police announced on Wednesday, the seizure and confiscation of a world record amount of amphetamine, amounting to 14 tons, produced by Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh).
The police said in a statement that the confiscated quantity of 84 million tablets amounted to about one billion euros, describing the process as “the largest seizure of amphetamines in the world,” According to Agence France-Presse.
According to the AKI News Site, the police seized the smuggled drugs at the port of Salerno, where the smugglers hid them in three containers.
They said that the narcotic pills were captagon, which were produced in Syria by the organization to finance its operations.
The news agency explained that the containers contained paper cylinders for industrial use, coming from Syria and directed to a company based in Lugano, Switzerland.
On the other hand, the Russian Federal Security Service announced on Tuesday that it had prevented an attack in Vladivostok, where a supporter of ISIS was preparing for a bombing, after which he was planning to leave for the Middle East to fight among the terrorists.
According to the Russian security forces, as cited by Sputnik, the security forces “aborted the terrorist act in the city of Vladivostok, and the arrested a Russian citizen born in 1990. He was preparing to plant an explosive device near the hand – made from one of the administrative buildings.”
