BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:27 A.M.) – ISIS has announced through its Amaq Agency that it has repelled an assault from Syrian Army forces in eastern Aleppo countryside.
The Syrian Army attempted to liberate Makhum village, the last village before Jirah Airbase, and located on the M4 Highway.
The assault against the village began from Tall Makhum, a small hilltop overlooking the village and held by the Syrian government forces.
An elderly suicide bomber, as reported earlier by Al-Masdar News, killed 11 Syrian Army soldiers including one officer, which was the primary reason for ISIS’ successful defense of Makhum.
Al-Masdar News reported days ago that the Syrian Army are on the verge of surrounding Jirah Airbase from three flanks, and the liberation of Makhum would advance the siege attempt.
Meanwhile, ISIS also claimed to have destroyed a Syrian Army tank with a guided missile at nearby village of Zakia on Thursday too.
