BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:20 P.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIS) is in serious trouble inside their last Deir Ezzor stronghold, as the Syrian Army and their allies sweep through eastern districts of Albukamal.
Led by Hashd Al-Sha’abi (Iraqi paramilitary), the Syrian government forces and their allies entered Albukamal, today, from the Iraqi border-city of Al-Qa’im, which is located in the Al-Anbar Governorate.
According to Hezbollah’s official media wing, the Syrian Army and their allies are currently advancing inside this Islamic State stronghold, while their allies push from the west along the Albukamal-Deir Ezzor Road.
On Tuesday, the Syrian Arab Army’s elite Tiger Forces began their long-awaited offensive to liberate Albukamal; they are pushing from the Al-Mayadeen axis.
The main objective for the Syrian Army’s High Command is to encircle Albukamal and pressure the Islamic State to surrender the city so that the civilians remaining inside are not caught in a long battle.
