On July 3rd, ISIS militants launched a large scale offensive aimed at lifting the siege off of ISIS’s biggest stronghold in the Aleppo province, Manbij.

During night time, the jihadists surprised the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) by sneaking into several hills and villages which forced the SDF to retreat from the following locations: Aqra’a mountain, Umm Al Saraj mountain, Khirbat al-Rous, Jubb Al Ashara, Khirbat Al Ashara, Al Nuaimiya, Kura’a Kabira, Kura’a Saghira, and Jubb Nahed.

An ISIS militant by the name Abu Tamik Al Najdi carried out a suicide bombing in the village of Kabir Kabeer before IS militants began their attack on the village. Clashes are ongoing.

Amaq News released footage of one SDF fighter, reportedly from the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) faction, who had been captured by ISIS forces:

Another ISIS militant by the name of Abu Turan carried out a suicide bombing in the town of Zangil that lies on the outskirts of Manbij.

Meanwhile, despite some setbacks, the SDF command center announced it intended to capture Al-Bab, one of few major cities still held by ISIS in the Aleppo governorate.

They will simply face very serious problems. According to the weapon loading I’ve seen with the F/A-18 from the USS Eisenhower, it’s not a real surprise for me to see IS gaining some momentum… Read more »
