BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:50 P.M.) – The so-called Islamic State (ISIS) has expanded its presence inside of Al-Qadam, seizing almost the entire district from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

According to a military source in Damascus, the Syrian Arab Army troops withdrew to a small neighborhood in west Al-Qadam after ISIS launched another powerful attack on their positions.

The Syrian Army was forced to withdraw to western Al-Qadam after the troops suffered heavy casualties as a result of poor coordination between the military branches present inside this southern Damascus district.

As a result of this withdrawal, the Islamic State now controls nearly 90 percent of Al-Qadam, with the Syrian Army only in control of a small part of the western neighborhoods.
