En la tarde del viernes, el Ejército Árabe Sirio (EAS) liberó al-Mustarihah y al-Kitah después de duros enfrentamientos con la organización terrorista Estado Islámico en los alrededores de al-Manazir.

Las Fuerzas Tigre y Cheetah han sido las encargadas de liderar la ofensiva; ambas tropas de élite. A lo largo de la ofensiva se han asaltado ocho localidades de una región que 72 horas antes se creía impenetrable.

Aunque las escaramuzas continúan cerca de Alisah, donde el Estado Islámico resiste, el Ejército Árabe Sirio se encuentra a menos de 27 kilómetros del río Éufrates. No obstante, el objetivo principal del EAS es recuperar Deir Hafer, bastión del ISIS hacia el que ha movilizado las tropas que tenía en al-Bab.

El coronel Suheil al-Hassan ha ordenado asaltar Deir Hafer, ciudad que el Estado Islámico ha tenido oportunidad de fortificar durante dos años. La estrategia de las Fuerzas Tigre es intentar rodear la ciudad para aislar a los yihadistas y evitar que puedan retirarse hacia Raqqa.
