BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:00 P.M.) – The so-called “Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham” (ISIS) launched a second round of attacks on the strategic T-4 Military Airport in eastern Homs today, targeting the eastern flank of this installation located just west of Palmyra (Tadmur).
ISIS began their assault by storming the eastern outskirts of the military installation near the T-4 Pumping Station; this resulted in a fierce battle with the Syrian Arab Army’s 800th Battalion of the Republican Guard.
With help from the Russian Air Force, the Syrian Arab Army was able to beat back the first ISIS assault, inflicting heavy casualties on the terrorist forces before they would regroup and storm the government’s positions once again.
For the second time in 4 hours, the Syrian Arab Army would foil the Islamic State attack, forcing the latter to completely abandon their offensive in order to avoid heavy shelling and airstrikes.
The Islamic State militants have repeatedly attempted to enter the T-4 Military Airport in east Homs; however, they have been unable to penetrate the Syrian Arab Army’s security wall around the perimeter of this installation.
