For the last two days, the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) has stormed the Kuweires Airbase in east Aleppo, targeting the eastern perimeter of the base where the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has heavily fortified their defenses in preparation for this attack.
ISIS attempted to break-through the SAA’s defenses on Monday; however, the attack was repelled after militants suffered significant casualties (27 militants counted) and the destruction of their armed vehicles during their charge.
East of the Kuweires Airbase, the SAA carried out an attack on the militants of ISIS, destroying an arms warehouse that contained automatic rifles, ammunition, first-aid kits, and RPGs.
The SAA has repelled ISIS’ infiltration into Kuweires Airbase twice in the last 48 hours, killing at least 50 militants, while securing the eastern perimeter in the process.
Meanwhile, at Handarat, the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” (Victory Front) attempted a suicide attack at the southern entrance of village; it was ineffective, as it caused minimal damage to the barricades.
At Tal Madafa near Handarat village, the National Defense Forces (NDF) were able to fend off the Jabhat Al-Nusra and Jaysh Al-Mujahiddeen attack on the southern perimeter of the hill, securing the surrounding territory from the militant groups.
The new field commander of Harakat ‘Ahrar Al-Sham’s (Liberation of the Levant Movement) operation in Bashkoy has been killed by the SAA during their attempted infiltration into this northern Aleppo village – the identified militant commander was known as “Abu Ja’afar Baniyas” from the Tartous Governorate.
