DAMASCUS, SYRIA (9:50 P.M.) – ISIS released a six-minute propaganda video on Sunday, showing urban warfare in the Philippine city of Marawi which has witnessed a three-month long battle that is yet to end.
The footage, published by the Al-Hayat Media Center through its ‘Inside the Khalifah’ series, depicts combat footage with the Philippine Army and calls on foreign fighters, mainly from Australia and neighboring Muslim countries in Southeast Asia to join Islamic State ranks, represented on the battlefield by the jihadist Abu Sayyaf and Maute groups.
Not long ago, the ISIS-linked Amaq Agency released an infographic that suggested 335 Philippine soldiers had been killed in the battle for Marawi thus far.
In comparison, high-ranking members of the Philippine Army claim that some 500 ISIS insurgents have been neutralized, thus reaffirming the intensity of the clashes.
