BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:30 P.M.) – Another large group of reinforcements from the so-called “Islamic State” (ISIS) reportedly arrived in Deir Ezzor on Wednesday, ahead of their upcoming offensive inside this desert province in east Syria.
For several weeks now, the Islamic State has been sending large units of reinforcements to Deir Ezzor in preparation for this offensive to take the Military Airport, 137th Artillery Brigade Base, and several districts inside the provincial capital.
This terrorist operation has come as no surprise to the Syrian Arab Army’s High Command, as they have also sent a large number of reinforcements to Deir Ezzor in order to help defend against the Islamic State assault.
According to a military source at the 137th Artillery Base, the Syrian Air Force has been launching non-stop airstrikes over Deir Ezzor for several days now, targeting a number of gathering points used by the Islamic State to conduct attacks against the army.
In the coming weeks, the Islamic State will likely launch this long-awaited offensive, as they attempt to alleviate the pressure applied on their forces in Aleppo by the Syrian Arab Army.
