BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:00 A.M.) – An Islamic State-linked terrorist launched an attack against the Lebanese General Security Forces in Tripoli city last night, killing at least two military personnel before taking several people hostage.
According to a source, the terrorist, Abdel-Rahman Mabsout, killed two Lebanese General Security personnel at a checkpoint in the Tripoli Serail area before he fled to a building inside the city.
The Lebanese military was quickly dispatched to the area and besieged the terrorist inside a building on Al-Tawlid Street.
With nowhere to run, Mabsout resorted to detonating his suicide vest and killing himself before the Lebanese Army could apprehend him.
A source from the Lebanese General Security told Al-Masdar that Mabsout previously spent time in prison for terror-related activity.
