DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:45 P.M.) – For the second day in a row, the Islamist State wages another massive assault against the Syrian forces in east Homs countryside in an attempt to expand the territories they control.

Positions for the Syrian Army and allies located 20 km south of al-Mayadeen city (south of Deir Ezzor) have come under fierce attack as scores of ISIS militants, equipped with technical vehicles and heavy machineguns, raided the area.

So far, the onslaught has been repelled with substantial support from the Army’s artillery fire and Russian airstrikes. Casualties reported from both sides.

Yesterday, the terror group raided Army positions near Auwyred Dam area using a VBIED, killing and injuring scores of government troops.

First task after securing Damascus should be to clear the rats’ nest in the Badiyah.
Otherwise, they’ll be continually reenforced from al-Tanf/al-Zuqf.

I don’t understand why they don’t monitor the pocket. It’s not that big and you also have scouts on the ground to see movement (dust). Parts of the syrian military remain in the stone age – in form of equipment and leadership…
