BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:45 A.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIS) launched a powerful assault last night in the Deir Ezzor Governorate, targeting the strategic military airport under the control of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

ISIS stormed the military airport at 9:30 P.M. (Damascus Time) last night, striking the southern flank of this installation from their positions at the rocket battalion base.

In response to the Islamic State offensive last night, the Russian and Syrian air forces stepped up their attacks over Deir Ezzor, launching over 40 airstrikes against terrorist targets in this desert province.

No gains were reported by either side last night, despite the intensity of the Islamic State attack on the military airport.

The Islamic State launched this offensive at the military airport after they foiled the large-scale advance by the Syrian Arab Army in the Panorama and cemetery areas.

“attacking from the rocket battalion base…” What is there to be said, when this is the reality. It is hard to comprehend that ruasf did not strike the most dangerous dasih gatherings and positions, several hundred meters from the AB.

WHY is the ruasf failing to carry out the most basic and priority air strikes? with a laser guided weapons and thereby help SAA defenders, as they should be helped. Why is ruasf not doing what it is supposed to do? Is

“If it were the americans then isis would be annihilated round deir ezzor.” They could, technically speaking, nearly totally annihilate IS in a few hours time (!) Lets be clear : the US inventory is about 3500 jet strike/fighter aircraft, +150 heavy bombers, +1000 gunship-choppers, +260 armed drones and 28 AC-130… You don’t even need the quarter of it to replicate the infamous 1991 Highway of Death massacre (2600 vehicles destroyed in 6 hours, +10k dead) every day… It’s FAR to be what’s deployed and the number of coalition’s strikes a day has rarely rose over 30 a day… “My… Read more »
