BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:00 A.M.) – Late yesterday afternoon, ISIS terrorists launched a large assault on positions of the US-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in southern Hasakah Governorate.
According to both ISIS propaganda and social media sources which closely track ISIS military developments, Islamic State militants attacked a US-built base south of the city of Ash-Shaddadi.
ISIS shock troops (inghimasis), spearheaded by at least two suicide bombers who are said to have detonated themselves before the gates of the military installation, reportedly carried out the attack.
In what is most likely linked to the base assault operation, ISIS sleepers in Ash-Shaddadi city initiated firefights with Kurdish security forces. This was probably part of an attempt to distract SDF units throughout the region.
Whilst little is known about the status of the ISIS attack against Kurdish forces at the military installation south of Ash-Shaddadi, it appears that the attack inside the city itself was quickly put down with twelve jihadist militants being killed in the process.
