DAMASCUS, SYRIA (5:40 A.M.) – The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a new offensive inside the eastern Qalamoun region of rural Damascus on Saturday night, targeting the Free Syrian Army’s (FSA) positions at Jabal Afa’ii.

ISIS began the assault by storming the eastern perimeter of Jabal Afa’ii, resulting in a fierce battle with the Free Syrian Army that is still ongoing at the moment.

According to the Free Syrian Army’s official media wing, their forces reportedly destroyed one of the Islamic State’s technical vehicles that was mounted with an anti-aircraft machine gun.

Today’s attack by the Islamic State is the second offensive launched by the aforementioned terrorist group this month.
