BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:20 A.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIS) launched a massive offensive on early Sunday morning to reclaim the territory they lost to the Kurdish-led “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) in western Raqqa.
According to the terrorist group’s official media wing “Al-Amaq,” their forces began their offensive by storming the SDF-held villages of Suwaydiyah, Kabirah, Turkiyah, Bayoud, and Widyan in Raqqa’s western countryside.
Heavy clashes would last for much of the day on Sunday until the Islamic State terrorists finally seized the 5 villages they targeted near the Tabaqa Dam.
Al-Amaq Agency claimed that at least two dozen SDF fighters were killed and another 30 were wounded during Sunday’s battle.
Sunday’s offensive in Al-Raqqa by the Islamic State was the terrorist group’s most successful counter-assault in this province since the SDF launched their massive military operation last month.
