BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:50 A.M.) – The so-called Islamic State (ISIS) has launched a major offensive, tonight, to breakout of their large pocket in the Badiya region and advance towards the historical city of Palmyra.

According to a military source in the Homs Governorate, ISIS began the assault by storming the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions to the east of the T-3 Pumping Station.

In particular, the Islamic State militants struck the Syrian Army’s positions inside the strategic Hamimah area, which was once the terrorist group’s stronghold in the Badiya region.

While no gains have been reported, both parties are currently involved in a fierce battle, with the Islamic State on the offensive.

Since the evacuation of their forces from southern Damascus to the Badiya region, the Islamic State has repeatedly launched big assaults in a bid to expand their territory.

They’re not trying to get to Palmyra, they’re heading directly south from what I can see on the maps. Palmyra is too well protected for this group to tackle yet, so I doubt they’ll even try. Last year Isis used the 55km exclusion zone around the US base at Al-Tanf to evade SAA forces and I suspect they’re about to try the same tactic. The US uses it’s artillery to keep the SAA out of this zone, but Isis had free reign to move in and out of this zone as they pleased last year, until the Russians put a… Read more »

They took Palmyra twice and last time it was a Russian base there so it doesn’t matter who protects it if you guys don’t have airstrikes you will lose against Isis anytime and anywhere proven and fact

You really like this ideology?
In order to justify the position it is necessary to discover boundary situations and to see how your position fits with this situation.
Let me ask you something.
In a hypothetical situation where ISIS would rule the whole planet what you ISIS will do?
You would put down your weapons and started to work, produce, create … Hardly. You would continue to kill each other because you only know how to destroy, you parasite …

That’s even why all the “Muslim world” is a failure while Dar-al-Kuffar is prosperous! Even after WW2, it ended in far better shape despite the Mid-East was barely untouched!!!!! “if you guys don’t have airstrikes you will lose against Isis anytime and anywhere proven and fact”-Abu Bark => That’s why angels have wings and the fallen-angel was deprived of his. 😉 BTW, the French artillery kicked more ISIS bütts in Mosul than air strikes with only 6 guns : It was just like a full squadron of IQAF was dropping its JDAMs every 3 minutes. Ceasar guns are even more… Read more »

The muslim world is a failure? Indeed those states who’s foundation is built upon dictatorships established by their masters in the USA/UK or any of the other security council members are failures but the question is how do we rank success is it merely tech know how? Going by that yard stick Japan or South Koera would be the leading nations while in truth they are still hostaged to a USA overlordship infact political self determination i.e independence of internal and external policy free from the so called successful nation’s control is true success. Regarding Assad not calling for general… Read more »

God, you’re full of it. You just excused all the manipulation of the west and IT’S Zionist agenda for the last 120 years. Only fools believe you and you’re pathetic attempts to continue the Arab stereo-typing. The major reason for discord is western manipulation of tribes, pitting them against each other. That is the western way, start sh*t, then claim it’s all a natural occurrence…like WTC 7 falling down, it just naturally fell because it was on fire…and Syrian war isn’t a western attack, it’s a civil war against the evil Assad, just like Libya and Kaddafi, who Libyans wish… Read more »

Isis no longer has the capacity to launch a large scale offensive on Palmyra and hasn’t any ability to hold it even if they could. The Isis fighters are only half the problem, the logistical supply lines are the other half, soldiers can’t fight without food and re supply and that’s something Isis doesn’t have in Dier ez-Zor any more thanks to the Russians. As insane as most Isis fighters are, they’re still not insane enough to attack and take over a town they can’t possibly hold. Maybe I shouldn’t say that, the Filipino president wouldn’t agree.

Southern Syria is important because this where the Israeli backed terrorist infiltrate in from. Along with Al Tanf, this is the most important training area for ISIS. The strategic importance to Israel is also important to Syria. Until these areas are segregated and completely cut off or taken under control, IS will continue to amass there and resupply other areas. These terrorists are not appearing out of thin air. That’s why these areas are still IS controlled and why the US and Israel continue to attack SAA when they get close. The accusations that they are attacking only Iranian or… Read more »

The south east where Al-Tanf is, was Isis and FSA territory but in Darra it’s more complicated. The Israelis and the Druze are actually not fighting the SAA in Darra, it’s Isis and the other fanatical Muslim groups that they’re fighting there now. The Druze have a religious faith more like the Jewish faith than it is the Muslim one and it makes them the most hated religious minority in Syria. Other Muslim groups persecute them and Isis would burn every one of them alive if they could. If the SAA go to Darra it won’t be to attack the… Read more »

Hasn’t even started!
Israelis already said they had no problem with SAA cleansing the roaches.
Many seem to really not even try to nonetheless get their point, but not even listen what they say and prefer to listen to stupid conspiracy theories from morons!

ISIS hunters urgently need to expunge this nest of ISIS vipers in the middle of Syria once and for all.
Then they should surround al-Tanf & al-Zuqf.
This is a much greater threat to Syria’s existence than Daraqa.

This is the reason for this IS attempt, to draw the SAA from Dara’a. They (Israel/US) are trying to protect the viper nests there.
