BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) – The so-called Islamic State (ISIS) launched another big assault against the Syrian government troops in eastern Syria, targeting the latter’s positions near the strategic city of Al-Mayadeen.

ISIS began the assault by storming a checkpoint belonging to the National Defense Forces (NDF) in the vast Badiya Al-Sham region of western Deir Ezzor.

According to a military source in Homs, the Syrian government troops were able to foil the first wave of the Islamic State’s assault; however, they are allegedly preparing to launch another big attack.

Earlier this week, the Islamic State launched a similar attack in which they inflicted heavy casualties in the ranks of Syrian Army.

More details to come…
