Several US officials told CNN on Tuesday that ISIS terrorist have fired mustard gas at the Qayarrah air base, just south of Mosul city.

Both American and Iraqi forces are stationed in the base.

The agent, however, is said to have a “low purity” and “poorly weaponized,” an official said, with a second one calling it “ineffective.”

“It was ISIS that fired at the base, since the terror group has been making mustard agent for some time,” CNN said in its report, citing the Pentagon’s assessment of the situation.

There have been no reported casualties.

Neither US nor Israel manufactures mustard gas. In fact, nobody manufactured it for near +75 years for any military purpose. Mustard gas was interesting before WW2 but if you want efficiency, well, you need HUGE quantities like several oil trucks and heavy diffusers VERY near the area you target and it’ll act mostly much more as an incapacitating gas than a deadly weapon : just go on the 2nd floor or the roof and it’s mostly useless. But it would be terrible if you’re in a cave or in a trench and not very good if lying on the ground.… Read more »

It is as if they are desperate to provoke us into believing there is only one threat to freedom in Syria.
