BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:15 P.M.) – The Islamic State’s (ISIS) is on the verge of complete defeat in Syria, as their once powerful ‘caliphate’ has been reduced to a small pocket in the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

Backed by heavy airstrikes from the Russian Aerospace Forces, the Syrian Arab Army resumed their offensive to clear the Islamic State’s pocket between the important cities of Albukamal and Al-Mayadeen earlier this week.

The Syrian Army and their allies were able to take control of Duwayr, Al-Khashma, Sabaykhan, and Mahkan after a swift operation against the depleted Islamic State forces.

With ISIS trapped between the SAA and US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the battle to clear Deir Ezzor of the terrorist group could conclude by the new year.

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.
