According to the Libya Dawn’s official page, ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has arrived in Colonel Gaddafi’s hometown of Sirte.
The Libya Dawn are an Islamist coalition mostly made up of the radical Muslim Brotherhood. Although not internationally recognized as Libya’s legitimate government, they are in control of Libya’s capital city, Tripoli.
Gaddafi ruled Libya with an iron first for nearly 42 years without allowing the fomentation of radical Islamism to take hold in the oil-rich African country. This only occurred after his overthrow in 2011.
Although unlikely, and it cannot be independently verified, the Libya Dawn statement claims that Baghdadi has arrived to oversee the attack on the Misrata oilfields close to Sirte. This oilfield is one of the richest in Africa.
