According to the Islamic State media outlet Amaq News, ISIS fighters blew up an Iraqi helicopter around noon today, near the town of Al-Khalidiyah in the Anbar governorate.

This town is located west of Fallujah, a major Islamic State stronghold.

The Amaq News claim cannot be independently verified by Al-Masdar News.

However, ISIS has showcased it possesses lethal MANPAD’s in the Fallujah area in a video published three days ago.

This missile anti-aircraft weaponry is able to bring down helicopters and low flying airplanes.

Nevertheless, ISIS forces have been losing ground around Fallujah since Monday, when the Iraqi Prime Minister announced a major offensive would begin ultimately aimed at the capture of the city.

I agree, I commented the same thing on another post. I don’t understand why ISIS videos are being posted here, if people want news and propaganda from ISIS they will read AMAQ.

Well, they show a shot, not a hit… Although it’s very low, it seems to me that the engine noise sounds much more like a jet engine than a chopper and the jets prefer to fly above 5,000m to avoid any ManPADS threats, especially considering that guided bombs and missile have much greater ranges, nevertheless, modern countermeasures can be very efficient so, maybe some idiots will believe their claims but until I see them hitting, I consider it failed. When I saw them inspecting the wreckage of a syrian Su-22, well, I didn’t believed their claims to have downed it… Read more »

Its very obvious propaganda.. AMAq is a full of s**t and it sad to see that Aljazeera use them as source and also there woul be report from Iraqi side if they really shot a helicopter.
