The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a counter-offensive in the western countryside of Al-Raqqa on Tuesday in order to recapture the small village of Khirbat Zeidan from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA).
However, the Islamic State attack acheived very little success, as the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses overpowered the terrorist group during the peak hours of the battle on Tuesday afternoon.
The Islamic State’s media wing “Al-Amaq” reported that their forces were able to recapture a checkpoint near Khirbat Zeidan, while also killing 20 soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army in the process.
This report was denied by local field correspondents in west Raqqa, including the main journalist for the Desert Hawks, Eyad Al-Hussein.
The latter confirmed that the Syrian Armed Forces were able to repel the Islamic State attack at Khirbat Zeidan, resulting in the capture of the terrorist group’s equipment.
Among the equipment seized by the Syrian Armed Forces on Tuesday were two armored vehicles: T-55 tank and MRLS.
As reported by Eyad Al-Hussein, the entire ISIS offensive was repelled after their failure to recaptured Khirbat Zeidan.
