The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) said one of its jihadists had carried out the mass shooing in Orlando, Florida yesterday, in the deadliest terror attack in the United States which left 50 clubbers dead, 53 injured.
“The armed attack that targeted a gay night club in the city of Orlando in the American state of Florida which left over 100 people dead or injured was carried out by an Islamic State fighter”, stated Aamaq Agency, the official social media account of the terror group.
According to U.S. officials, the 29 year-old, Omar Mateen, stormed the nightclub with an assault rifle and a handgun around 2 a.m. and haphazardly opened fire on clubbers.
Horus later, the police broke into the club and killed the assailant.
Before getting killed, Omar called 911 and pledged allegiance to the Islamic State; he also credited the Tsarnaev Brothers who bombed the Boston Marathon back in 2013.
The FBI stated that Mateen was interrogated twice in 2013 and 2015 over suspected links with “a known suicide bomber”. All charged were dropped later for lack of evidence.
