According to the Islamic State’s media wing Amaq News, ISIS has recaptured a few areas in the countryside surrounding Manbij city on Tuesday afternoon.
Specifically, the villages of Tāyihā Kabeera and Tāyihā Sagheera along with the Um Mayal hill were reportedly retaken by the Islamic State. The adjacent farms of the villages were also seized by ISIS, according to Amaq News.
These sites are located southwest of the city, near the road from al-Bab to Manbij.
Despite failing to report ISIS losses, Amaq News is usually correct regarding military gains of the Islamic State.
Nevertheless, around 80 villages have been captured by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) since it began a major offensive against ISIS west of the Euphrates on May 31.
ISIS is still in control of Manbij city which is currently being pounded by coalition jets.
In an effort to deter airstrikes, militants of the Islamic State are burning tires to engulf the city in thick black smoke.
