The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) reportedly captured the large hilltop of Tal Tayyim in southwest Deir Ezzor on Saturday after launching a wide-scale offensive to seize the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions near the Thardeh Mountains.
ISIS began their offensive by storming the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses in the Thardeh Mountains; however, this was repelled after a four hour long battle that ended in the terrorist group retreating west towards the Al-Tayyim Oil Fields.
Following their failure at Jabal Thardeh, ISIS launched another attack; this time at Tal Tayyim near the strategic oil fields.
The terrorist group’s assault at Tal Tayyim would pay off, as they seized this large hilltop from the Syrian Armed Forces after a short battle.
ISIS is once again trying to capture the Syrian Arab Army’s last points at Jabal Thardeh; but so far, no gains have been reported.
