The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) urged its followers to smash their satellite TV sets in order to ‘shield their beliefs and ethics from being polluted by hostile media outlets’.
“The enemies of Islam are waging a media war on the Islamic State that is no less dangerous than the military campaign,” the group said on a video posted on its official Telegram account.
It is not yet clear if the people living in areas controlled by ISIS will be forced to destroy their TV sets.
This comes as the terror group is hammered under great pressure in both Syria and Iraq, where a full-scale military campaign is being launched against its strongholds of al-Raqqa and Fallujah respectively.
Ultraconservative groups worldwide have been notorious for banning all means of entertainment such as music, TV sets, video recorders and all forms of art.
