The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has recently released photos of its oldest fighters posing with a small pistol in bid to lift morale of its desperate jihadists.
Mohammed Amin, an 81 year-old Chinese grandfather, was posing in front of the camera, holding a small handgun with an unidentified man.
Amin – who is a member of the minority Muslim Uighur in Xinjiang, northwest of China – was said to have joined the group in Iraq after seeing his jihadi son killed in Syria.
ISIS is suffering a major setback and is on course to lose its stronghold of Fallujah in Iraq as it comes under heavy attack by Iraqi forces.
In Syria, the US airstrikes are providing aerial cover for the Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) while marching on the group’s de fact capital of al-Raqqa.
