BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:20 P.M.) – The so-called Islamic State (ISIS) has recently seized several areas in southern Damascus, giving them control of the largest portion of territory in this part of the Syrian capital.
ISIS launched a big assault inside the Yarmouk Camp and Hajar Al-Aswad last week, seizing much of Jaysh Al-Islam’s positions in this part of southern Damascus.
As a result of these advances, the Islamic State now finds themselves in control of three quarters of Yarmouk Camp, most of Hajar Al-Aswad, Al-Qadam, Al-Tadamon, and much of Yalda’s eastern axis.
With the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and Islamist rebels tied up in a fierce battle in the East Ghouta, the Islamic State has managed to expand their control over several areas of southern Damascus.
The Islamic State was able to further expand their presence in southern Damascus on Monday, capturing more ground inside the Taqdam Neighborhood of Hajar Al-Aswad.
