BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:00 A.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched a powerful attack on the Islamic State’s (ISIS) last bastion in southern Syria on Monday.
Led by their 4th Armored Division, the Syrian Arab Army began their attack on Monday by storming the Islamic State’s positions in the Qasr Sheikh Hussein area of the Al-Safa region.
Initially, the Syrian Arab Army was able to liberate several points from the Islamic State after a fierce battle in the Qasr Sheikh Hussein area.
However, this Syrian Arab Army advance would be short-lived, as the Islamic State managed to reclaim all of the territory they lost after launching a swift counter-assault on Monday afternoon.
Following the Islamic State’s counter-assault, the Syrian Arab Army unleashed a flurry of artillery shells and missiles towards the terrorist group’s last positions in the Al-Safa region.
Since launching this artillery assault, the Syrian Arab Army has begun another ground attack in a bid to liberate the last areas under the Islamic State’s occupation.
