BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 A.M.) – The so-called Islamic State (ISIS) launched a surprise offensive along the Iraqi border, yesterday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions at Post 400.
ISIS began the surprise offensive by storming the Syrian Arab Army’s positions at Post 400 from Iraq yesterday afternoon.
However, the Islamic State attack would fail after a short battle, as the Syrian Arab Army’s forces managed to drive back the terrorist group.
During the attack, the Syrian Arab Army destroyed a technical vehicle that was fitted with a 23mm machine gun and an anti-tank guided missile.
Furthermore, the Syrian Army also killed at least four Islamic State terrorists, while also seizing a surveillance drone and several assault rifles.
This latest attack by the Islamic State comes just days after the Syrian Arab Army announced the full liberation of the Deir Ezzor Desert.
Since liberating the Deir Ezzor Desert, the Syrian Army has established several checkpoints inside the Badiya Al-Sham region, while also equipping their troops in these areas with advanced military equipment like ATGMs and thermal cameras for night vision.
