BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:10 P.M.) – For the second time in two days, the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) has attempted to advance against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the Badiya Al-Sham region of western Deir Ezzor.

ISIS began today’s assault by storming a checkpoint controlled by the pro-government National Defense Forces (NDF) in an area located approximately 40km west of Al-Mayadeen city.

However, the ensuing battle would not end in the Islamic State’s favor, as the National Defense Forces and their allies from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) managed to hold their lines and drive back the encroaching terrorists.

The Islamic State has recently intensified their attacks in the Badiya Al-Sham region in a bid to breakout of the vast Syrian Desert and reassert themselves in the Euphrates River Valley.

These ISIS attacks have a coordination that would require detailed satellite intelligence and a even experts from the US coalition I think and the use of US Coalition airpower against the SAA and allies suggests that the experts are American.
