Aleppo, Syria (9:00 A.M.) – The Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) launched a new assault in the Kuweires Airport area of east Aleppo on Saturday, targeting the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) defenses at the village of Nasrallah.
ISIS began the assault by storming the village of Nasrallah from its northeastern flank; this resulted in a violent battle with the Syrian Arab Army and their allies.
Despite repeated attempts to break-through the Syrian Arab Army’s defenses, the Islamic State has been relatively unsuccessful in their latest attempt to advance near the strategic Kuweires Military Airport.
Moreover, the Islamic State’s attack has been forestalled by the non-stop Russian airstrikes over their positions in the Deir Hafer Plains.
The village of Nasrallah is situated just north of the Kuweries Military Airport; it was captured by the Syrian Armed Forces in late November 2015.
