ISIS attacked the village Secol 50km south of the northern Syrian city of Kobani after successfully breaking through the defenses of the Kurdish YPG militia.

“The Islamic State’s (ISIS) militants launched, at dawn today, an attack on the Kurdish village of Secol, south of Kobani (Ayn al-Arab), then violent clashes broke out between the militants and the Kurdish units,” an informed source from Kobani told Basnews.

“The losses among the ranks of civilians and militants were not identified,” the source added.

It is not known at this moment how successful ISIS were in their attempts to recapture the village.

They are clearly being funded from the outside. KSA is just one of them.

The ISIS units were sent on a suicide mission in the same way ISIS attacked Erbil at the start of the Mosul offensive. No strategic purpose, just a hope that, in the initial chaos, ISIS can take focus away from the losses they are incurring in the primary theatre: in this scenario it is Raqqah instead of Mosul.
