BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 A.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) carried out a new attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops positioned near the Iraqi border last night.
According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the Islamic State terrorists opened fire on the Syrian Arab Army troops with an SPG9 caliber recoiless gun, scoring a direct hit on their positions near the border-city of Albukamal.
The source said that the Islamic State terrorists managed to kill and wound over ten Syrian Arab Army soldiers, while causing significant damage to the government’s trenches near the Iraqi border.
In response to this hit-and-run attack by the Islamic State, the Syrian Arab Army launched a number of surface-to-surface missiles towards the terrorists near the town of Baghouz Fouqani.
Despite their recent battlefield setbacks in eastern Deir Ezzor, the Islamic State is still carrying out sporadic attacks against the Syrian Arab Army near the key city of Albukamal.
