BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:35 P.M.) – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced this weekend that four Russian soldiers were killed after the so-called Islamic State (ISIS) carried out an attack in the Deir Ezzor countryside.
“Two Russian military advisers who were in charge of a Syrian battery unit were killed on the spot, five more Russian servicemen were injured and were promptly taken to a Russian military hospital,” the report said.
Two of the wounded men would later succumb to their wounds as a result of the Islamic State attack.
According to the department, several mobile groups of terrorists attacked an artillery battery belonging to the government troops in the province of Deir Ezzor at night.
The Syrian military, together with their military advisers, responded by eliminating the Islamic State attackers and reestablishing security around the artillery battery.
All Russian servicemen will be presented awards.
