DEIR EZZOR, SYRIA (10:50 A.M.) – The situation in Deir Ezzor is not in favor of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) at the moment, as the Islamic State of Iraq and Al-Sham (ISIS) inches closer to the strategic military airport at the outskirts of the provincial capital.

On Wednesday night, the Islamic State terrorists managed to capture the Syrian Arab Army’s last points at the Thardeh Mountains, leaving them within striking distance of the Deir Ezzor Military Airport’s western perimeter for the first time in this war.

Making matters worse for the Syrian Arab Army at the Deir Ezzor Airport, the Islamic State’s presence at the Thardeh Mountains has given them the geographic advantage in this battle because they are overlooking the government forces from the western flank.

ISIS has already launched a new assault on the Deir Ezzor Military Airport today, striking this strategic installation from both the western and southern flanks.

According to a military source inside the province, the Syrian Arab Air Force (SAAYF) has already conducted several sorties over the Thardeh Mountains in order to forestall the terrorists from reaching the western gates of the airport.

Clashes are still ongoing at the moment; however, the Syrian Arab Army has been able to repel all previous infiltration attempts.

No US budget has ever been voted by congress. ISIS made lotsa money by smuggling oil and antics through Turkey and they seized a lotsa weapons from both Iraqi and Syrian armies’ stockpiles, now, they also clearly buy-back equipments from some Qaeda affiliated gangs who themselves are funded and armed by several ME countries who themselves buy weapons from the US but many weapons have been seized from Libyan arsenals then smuggled into Syria through Turkey. I doubt that CIA spent a single buck into this : as far as I know, such operations are illegal under US laws and… Read more »
