BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:40 A.M.) – For the second time this week, the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) terrorist organization has carried out an ambush against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the vast Badiya Al-Sham region.
According to a military source near the ancient city of Palmyra, the Islamic State ambushed a group of Syrian Army soldiers near the T-3 Pumping Station. This ambush resulted in the death of several Syrian Arab Army soldiers and the hospitalization of many others.
The source added that the Islamic State fighters quickly retreated to an unknown location shortly after they carried out this ambush.
Over the last two months, the Islamic State has carried out several ambushes against the Syrian Arab Army and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in eastern, central, and northern Syria.
As a result of these ambushes, the Syrian Arab Army has lost between 80-90 soldiers near the ancient city of Palmyra alone. If it wasn’t for the recent hostilities in northwestern Syria, this region of Syria would be considered the deadliest part of the country.
