BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:15 P.M.) – The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) fighters in the Badiya Al-Sham region of eastern Syria carried out an ambush against a group of Syrian Arab Army (SAA) soldiers on Saturday.
According to a military report from the ancient city of Palmyra, a group of Syrian Army soldiers were ambushed during their combing operation in the Dubayat area of eastern Homs.
The report said at least a half dozen Syrian Arab Army soldiers were killed during the ambush and two others were captured by the terrorist group.
With the Islamic State’s presence coming to an end in the eastern part of the Euphrates River Valley, the Syrian Arab Army has begun their operation to clear the remaining terrorist hideouts in the vast Badiya Al-Sham region.
Since launching this operation in eastern Syria, the Syrian Arab Army has managed to kill several Islamic State fighters and seize a large quantity of their weapons.
However, a source from the Syrian military told Al-Masdar that this operation to clear ISIS from the Badiya Al-Sham region could take several months, as the terrorist group has taken shelter in many of the caves in eastern Syria.
